Mages

Mages are a robed class that excels at wielding the elements of fire, frost and arcane in World of Warcraft. They use these elements to completely destroy their enemies and they specialize in blast damage and spells that affect a certain area.

They also have the power to polymorph, by using this spell the mage can morph any creature into a harmless creature, generally a sheep. The mage in WoW also has utility spells, such as conjuring food to increase the players’ health and spells to teleport the mage to a city. The ranged attack, magic equivalent of the hunter is the primary weapon of the mage and has nearly no melee attack functionality.

The mages can only wield staff’s and wands, however at a later stage they can use swords and daggers. Mages must use items that have spell power, in order to maximize their damage but are burdoned with a very weak defense; hence melee attacks can devastate them. The mages are ranged attackers; however they can fight melee battles with the help of their elements making them a most feared and respected class in World of Warcraft.

Mages have many special abilities, one of their famous abilities is the ability to conjure elementals, these beasts last for a fixed time and they cause a lot of damage. Spells are the greatest ability of a mage, their magic is very powerful and they have a lot of mana to help them use the spells. The spells of a mage can be divided into fire, frost and arcane.

Fire spells are primarily damage dealing in nature and also have an after effect in which the enemy loses health over time - these type of spells generally have a higher damage rate then the other two. Frost spells are single target attacks, they cause damage in one single area. These spells have a “chill” effect, this effect cause the immobilization of the enemy, making it easy for the mage to attack.
Arcane spells are utility spells for example: Teleport is an arcane spell, this allows the mage to teleport himself to a major city. The arcane spells also help you remove the after effects of other spells, such as curses.

The mage in WoW can cause damage, healing and escape by using his spells. The fire spells cause an immense amount of damage. The frost spells cause some damage and immobilize the enemy. Arcane spells can be used to heal the character or to escape from a battle. A combination of these spells can be used to help a mage win almost any battle and if teamed with a melee class such as a death knight then they are almost unbeatable.

The mage can be very useful in PvP matches in WoW. The mage can use a combination of his spells to disorient his enemy and then summon an elemental to help him defeat the enemy. The mage is also useful and wanted in groups in PvM environment because of the massive damage capabilities and crowd control.

The mage can use his area affecting spells to defeat multiple enemies, however the downside is that this powerful class has a low armor rating and very low amount of hit points. He also cannot heal himself, this can be his undoing.
In conclusion the mage is a formidable opponent who has many spells for all occasions. Although the mage has a low health points he can defeat his opponents using ranged attacks. Because of their low defence mages are not the best at farming for gold but if teamed up with a druid for example can make excellent resource gatherers.
